ANNUAL REPORT 2015 20 We have long known the powerful personal impact that Nexus programs have on the lives of children and families. In 2015, we set out to further quantify the impact of our work, commissioning Wilder Research, a division of Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, St. Paul, MN, to conduct a Social Return On Invest-ment (SROI) study of a sampling of existing and developing programs. This study estimates the positive impact Nexus programs and services have on society, includ-ing positive returns from a variety of factors (see graphic, at right). The Nexus treatment approach creates lasting positive impact that ripples throughout communities. SROI varies across programs and data limitations restrict estimates; some benefits simply do not show up in the data. This SROI study focused on near-term gains and did not include multi-generational benefits. Therefore, actual returns are even higher. SROI is only part of our story. Each time Nexus helps a child change the arc of his or her life, a new pattern is created from which we all benefit. We have powerful examples of youth lives that were transformed into healthy adults. Multiplied many times over and across generations, such returns are priceless.
