ANNUAL REPORT 2015 4 David Hutchinson, Nexus President & CEO Fulfilling Dreams of Strong Lives, Families, and Communities Children’s mental health is a critical issue facing our country. It affects our families, our schools, and our communities. Studies show that childhood abuse, neglect, household dysfunction, and trauma can have lifelong and multi-generational impact. As an organization whose mission is centered on strengthening lives, families, and communities, Nexus is committed to healing childhood trauma and finding youth and family solutions that lead to physical safety, mental well-being, and permanency for all of our youth and families. In 2015, that mission led to the development of exciting new Nexus programs, delivered in fresh new ways. For example, we opened our first community mental heath services program to help youth, families, and adults achieve and maintain good mental health closer to home. We developed a new girls’ program to provide treatment in Minnesota. We found new ways to engage youth. We established a program to help lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth in rural communities. Each of these programs was designed to help create brighter futures for youth and families. But there is more to do. Each year, we continue to expand our continuum of care and explore new ways to deliver the right amount of care in the right way at the right time. We dream of a future where every child and family has access to the support they need. We won’t stop at anything less. With your help, we can make those dreams come true. Thank you,
